VINYL
For this project, we had to create a Vinyl that will promote and sell a fake music band, with an imposed font.
Richard Hamilton’s sleeve was really radical and ahead of its time and it still looks contemporary. By contrast to Peter Blake’s vivid artwork for the Beatles’ previous album, Sgt Pepper’s, it was a plain white sleeve with the band name just embossed, almost invisible. There was a stamped number, which made each one unique.
My project had the aim to be as minimalist as possible because everyone in my «band» has distorted their typeface and played with a scan. Mine isn’t changed but I played with paper stock and uni’s facilities.
My front cover is laser cut in a 200gms black paper, the back is embossed with tracking list and album’s title.
My inner sleeve is made in silver paper foiled with a transparent paper, which makes the effect of the essence.
My label design in on sticker paper, it’s red and white and my vinyl will be white.
